​Relationships the biography subject has:

  • We can better understand what the subject of a biography is like by paying attention to the relationships the subject has with the people around him/her.

  • Both good and bad relationships with others can impact the subject’s life. The reader’s job is to figure out how these relationships affect the subject.

  • Think about the relationships that the subject of your biography has..

    • Are they positive or negative relationships?

    • How do the people in those relationships influence the subject?

    • Do they help, bother, motivate, or hold back the subject?

  • Complete the GoogleDoc about relationships that the subject of your biography has an analyze the cause and effect aspects of those relationships!

Lesson 4: How can we analyze your biography subject's decisions, challenges, relationships, and actions?

Decisions that the biography subject makes:

  • Subjects in biographies have to make some extraordinary decisions, otherwise, no one would have written a book about them! 

  • The decisions that a subject makes tell us a lot about who they are on the inside. 

    • These decisions can be positive or negative, but regardless they show us who the subject is as a person.​

    • In addition, all decisions are not easy ones to make, some decisions are complex/difficult

    • Readers must pay attention to those choices to understand the subject.

  • Think about the decisions that the subject of your biography has made..

    • Are they positive or negative decisions?

    • What did you learn about the subject based on this decision?

    • Did the decision impact their future or someone in their life?
  • Complete the GoogleDoc about decisions that the subject of your biography has made and then analyze what that decision told you about your subject as a person!

Struggles that the biography subject faces:

  • Just like in fiction stories about characters who have to face problems and hardships, the subject of a biography has to face struggles and hardships too!

  • When we read a biography, we ask the subject, "What did you want" and "Why was it hard to get?"

  • Think about the decisions that the subject of your biography has made..

    • Are they positive or negative decisions?

    • What did you learn about the subject based on this decision?

    • Did the decision impact their future or someone in their life?
  • Complete the GoogleDoc about struggles that the subject of your biography faces and analyze what the subject wanted/why it was hard to get!
